Religion

NSW schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics. Approved providers deliver these, where available.

Write to the school if you wish to withdraw your child from special religious education, sometimes known as scripture. Special education in ethics is an option for your primary-age child if you withdraw them from special religious education. For more information, visit Religion and ethics.

At Wollongong High school of the Performing Arts, SRE is delivered once a fortnight for 7-10 students.

On enrolment parents/carers will be given the SRE and SEE participation letter to complete and return. After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE/SEE should be given to the office, in writing.

The following SRE classes are offered at Wollongong High school of the Performing Arts: Christian SRE (Combined Churches).

Local Christian Churches collectively employ a teacher at the school to teach Christian SRE (Combined Churches).

Information about the SRE curriculum 'Think Faith’ can be found here:

https://whysre.com.au/sre-curriculum/cep-curriculum-overview/

Teacher Approved By: The Christian Reformed Churches of Australia

Teacher Authorised By: Combined Churches of Wollongong

Given the small numbers of students that participate in SRE during the time that SRE/SEE classes are being held, students not participating will remain in their classrooms with their class teachers and will participate in meaningful activities – such as reading, private study, revision or completing homework.

Students participating in SRE will leave their normal classes and be located in a separate space and be supervised by representatives of the respective authorised provider.
