Year 9 and 10 WHSPA Photography Students

Another amazing opportunity for our students to showcase their talent. Thank you City of Wollongong for inviting us to participate in this great initiative. See below:

Wollongong City Council - 17 April 2023 - 10.00am

We asked year 9 and 10 photography students from Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts why they love Wollongong. They delivered some amazing photographic responses which are on display at the Wollongong Youth Centre until the end of June.

Wollongong Youth Services ran some art and photography workshops and students were encouraged to go out and take photos around the Youth Week theme of “Connect. Participate. Celebrate.”

Check out the I Love Wollongong Because exhibition all long the external walls of the Youth Centre at 85 Burelli Street in Wollongong.

We couldn’t be more proud of the students and the amazing photo panels they created.

Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts acknowledge the Wadi Wadi people of the Dharawal Nation, who are the Traditional Owners of the land on which we meet. We acknowledge the Elders, past, present and future, of this land as well as Elders of the wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. These Elders hold the traditions, the dreams, the hopes and the culture that has been kept alive for thousands of years. Our school lies between the sacred site of Mt Geera and the five islands which are significant figures in Dharawal dreaming stories. These stories pass on the traditions, practices and customs that have sustained the oldest living culture in the world to this day. In between the mountains and the sea we meet together in harmony and stand firm in the reminder that this land is, was, and always will be traditional Aboriginal land.
