2024 Visiting Chinese Students

What a wonderful time we had last week hosting students from China. In preparation Mr Ryan practiced his Chinese for weeks prior to the visit so he could welcome them to WHSPA and Mrs Wood utilised all of her technical and translation skills to ensure they had a warm goodbye.

A big thank you to Ms Dunstan and Ms Peterson who organised a full day of art activities on Thursday - Ms Dunstan and Ms Peterson had the pleasure of spending the day with our international students from China to delve into the art of printmaking. Students created gelatin prints from native flora and then carved lino to create beautiful prints and souvenir tote bags to remind them of their experiences of WHSPA and the Australian environment. The day was enjoyed by all, especially the 'Australiana' morning tea!

Also a special mention to our fabulous students who were 'Buddies' to the visiting students - Viviana, Molly, Felicity, Pavith, Joey, Nash, Freddie, Alex and Declan.

Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts acknowledge the Wadi Wadi people of the Dharawal Nation, who are the Traditional Owners of the land on which we meet. We acknowledge the Elders, past, present and future, of this land as well as Elders of the wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. These Elders hold the traditions, the dreams, the hopes and the culture that has been kept alive for thousands of years. Our school lies between the sacred site of Mt Geera and the five islands which are significant figures in Dharawal dreaming stories. These stories pass on the traditions, practices and customs that have sustained the oldest living culture in the world to this day. In between the mountains and the sea we meet together in harmony and stand firm in the reminder that this land is, was, and always will be traditional Aboriginal land.
