2023 Excellence in Vocational Education and Training Awards

The Workplace Learning Illawarra Schools ‘Excellence in Vocational Education & Training Awards 2023’ Presentation Night was held at the Grange Golf Club, Kembla Grange on the evening of 14th November 2023.

Approximately 36 nominated Yr12 VET students specializing in Construction, Business Studies, Hospitality and Entertainment from many Public and Private Schools across the Illawarra were presented with various certificates and awards. 

These students had to engage in a rigorous application and interview process to participate.

WHSPA student Mireille Pugin again received recognition for her diligence over the past 2 years with a Certificate Of Excellence In Construction. She was also the recipient of one of the two main awards, gaining the Judges Award for her outstanding interview.

Unfortunately, Mireille could not be present to accept these awards so, her very proud ITT/Construction Teacher Max Ordinall accepted these on her behalf.

Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts acknowledge the Wadi Wadi people of the Dharawal Nation, who are the Traditional Owners of the land on which we meet. We acknowledge the Elders, past, present and future, of this land as well as Elders of the wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. These Elders hold the traditions, the dreams, the hopes and the culture that has been kept alive for thousands of years. Our school lies between the sacred site of Mt Geera and the five islands which are significant figures in Dharawal dreaming stories. These stories pass on the traditions, practices and customs that have sustained the oldest living culture in the world to this day. In between the mountains and the sea we meet together in harmony and stand firm in the reminder that this land is, was, and always will be traditional Aboriginal land.
