2025 WHSPA Athletics Carnival

The WHSPA Athletics carnival was held on Tuesday 8 April 2025 in beautiful sunny conditions at Kerryn McCann Athletic Centre (Beaton Park) Wollongong.

The day was a combination of both novelty and competitive athletic events!

Lots of sausages and drinks were sold raising valuable funds for the 2025 WHSPA SRC and many thanks to Mr Egan and Mr Pennisi for organising all of the food.

Students moved around events in a tabloid format, meaning age groups changed events every 30 minutes across the day.

A big thank you to all staff who worked at making the day run smoothly and a massive thank you to over 560 students who attended the day.

The following students were age champions and will lead the charge for our school at the Northern Illawarra Zone Athletics Carnival being held this term on Thursday 3 July 2025 (Week 10).

12 Years Champions - Dexter O'Reilly and Corrah Campbell, 13 Years Champions - Piri Mozejko-Goetz and Teresa Kearney, 14 Years Champions - Edem Dowling and Winnifred Ryan, 15 Years Champions - Theodore Brown and Kyra Johnson, 16 Years Champions - Jed Phillips and Estelle Savy, 17-19 Years Champions Ieni Havea-Cain, Matilda Cohen and Genevieve Tozer.

Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts acknowledge the Wadi Wadi people of the Dharawal Nation, who are the Traditional Owners of the land on which we meet. We acknowledge the Elders, past, present and future, of this land as well as Elders of the wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. These Elders hold the traditions, the dreams, the hopes and the culture that has been kept alive for thousands of years. Our school lies between the sacred site of Mt Geera and the five islands which are significant figures in Dharawal dreaming stories. These stories pass on the traditions, practices and customs that have sustained the oldest living culture in the world to this day. In between the mountains and the sea we meet together in harmony and stand firm in the reminder that this land is, was, and always will be traditional Aboriginal land.
