2025 Northern Illawarra Zone Athletics Carnival

On Thursday 24 July 2025 WHSPA sent a strong team of athletes to Myimbarr Athletic Field in Shellharbour for the Northern Illawarra Zone Athletics Carnival.

Keen to follow on from our success at the Zone and South Coast Cross Country carnivals (winning them both) our athletes competed extremely well finishing second to a much larger Smiths Hill team in the point score

There were some outstanding results including four age champions as shown below:

Congratulations to Jack Scaddan 17-19 Boys , Max Madden 13 Boys , Winnifred Ryan 14 Girls and Jed Phillips 16 Boys .

Also well done to Kyra Johnston 2nd 15 Girls , Corrah Campbell 3rd 12 Girls , Koen Giles 3rd 13 Boys and Taj Turner 3rd 14 Boys .

A very big congratulations to William Willis who smashed the 17-19 Boys discus record and beat his nearest rival by over 20 metres.

Thirty one WHSPA students will now compete at the South Coast Carnival on Friday 15 July 2025 at the Kerryn McCann Athletics Track, Beaton Park.

Well done WHSPA athletes.

Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts acknowledge the Wadi Wadi people of the Dharawal Nation, who are the Traditional Owners of the land on which we meet. We acknowledge the Elders, past, present and future, of this land as well as Elders of the wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. These Elders hold the traditions, the dreams, the hopes and the culture that has been kept alive for thousands of years. Our school lies between the sacred site of Mt Geera and the five islands which are significant figures in Dharawal dreaming stories. These stories pass on the traditions, practices and customs that have sustained the oldest living culture in the world to this day. In between the mountains and the sea we meet together in harmony and stand firm in the reminder that this land is, was, and always will be traditional Aboriginal land.
